Hello,
I'm new to the forums and new to this game. Just purchased Dawn of Discovery Gold which i read it was the same thing as Anno 1404 and this pack contains both Dawn of Discovery (Anno 1404) and the Addon Venice. So it ran perfectly on Windows 7 64bits, but.. i did see it only said Dawn of Discovery Venice and couldn't find a tutorial and the multiplayer options for online gaming where greyed out. So i noticed the seller gave me 2 serial keys one corresponding to the base game and 1 to the addon.. but in order to get a tutorial and the bulk of the game i should start playing the base game but the T@ges activation code program just hangs and says it can't communicate with the server. So i can't activate it manually or via internet.. any idea?

P.S. I can open Venice with no problem, but i have a feeling this is not all the game since i only get options to play directly and i would probably need a hand to understand some stuff in a tutorial i think might exist on the base game. :P
Well after many tries doing the manual activation i finally got a long code, so i guess its fixed, just letting this be an informative post if anyone has the same problem. keep trying and trying i guess, eventually it will work and a confirmation that it works under Windows 7 ultimate 64 bits (maybe the server was down, who knows). So ill go to enjoy!

The game itself is great. The DRM scheme, however, is very problematic to getting the game to even run. It took a few google searches, but I figured out how to get my Amazon provided serial key to work. Here's what you need to do if you keep running into problems activating the game using your code.If you can't get your serial number to be accepted, it's probably a problem with the Tages drivers, which are the drivers used by the DRM Dawn of Discovery uses. Go to the Tages website (search Google for 'Tages Driver')
-Next, click on the 'Drivers' tab at the top of the webpage.
-Download the proper drivers for your windows type (either 32-bit or 64-bit)
-Run the Tages driver installation. If you run the program it will also uninstall the Tages drivers if they are already installed.
-Run the game. It will ask for your serial number. It won't go through, but it will leave a screen with a clickable html file, or the option to save the html file.
-Open the generated html file (it should have the icon of whatever web browser you use) and then click 'Send Request Code'.
-The next page will have a large serial number. Copy the portion in between the start and end notations, and the paste that into the serial key box that will open up when you click on the html file.
-The game should accept the serial key after this and the game is now registered and ready to play.
